Anointing with oil is one of the oldest rituals there is — long before crystals or tarot decks, people were blending herbs and oils to carry intention onto skin, candles, and doorways. If you’ve seen ritual oils in our shop and wondered where to start, here’s the basics.
What Ritual Oils Are Used For
A ritual (or “anointing”) oil is usually a carrier oil — like jojoba or almond — infused with herbs and essential oils chosen for a specific purpose: love, protection, clearing stuck energy, prosperity, calm, or a fresh start. The blend itself carries the intention; how you use it is up to you.
How to Use a Ritual Oil
- Dab a small amount on pulse points, the wrists, or the third eye.
- Anoint a candle before burning it (rub from the middle outward, avoiding the wick) to reinforce a candle spell.
- Anoint doorways, windows, or thresholds for a home blessing.
- Always patch-test a new oil on a small area of skin first, especially if you have sensitivities.
